Constitution Under Threat: Nagaland Congress Launches Membership Drive to Strengthen Democratic Foundations
Nagaland Congress Raises Concerns Over Undermining of Constitution and Patriotism
Dimapur, Nagaland: In an urgent call to action, the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) has expressed concerns over what they perceive as the systematic undermining of the Indian Constitution and imposition of policies that jeopardize the well-being of citizens. The organization has launched a membership drive in Dimapur, spearheaded by its working president, C. Apok Jamir, a former Rajya Sabha MP.
Speaking at the launch, Jamir emphasized the need to defend secularism and protect the values enshrined in the Constitution, which he believes are under threat from certain policies propagated over the past 14 years. “The very essence of our way of life and belief is under threat from policies that have been propagated over the past 14 years,” said Jamir. He described the Congress as the sole political party capable of championing the Constitution and safeguarding the rights of citizens. “To ensure understanding, unity, and progress, it is the duty of every citizen to stand against a government that violates the principles of the Constitution,” he added.
The membership drive, Jamir clarified, is not just about numbers but a movement to awaken citizens to the challenges facing the nation. “We need collective involvement to challenge oppression and work together for meaningful change,” he urged. He also highlighted the inclusive nature of religion, stating that Hinduism, in particular, promotes love and peace, but some individuals are trying to create division and hatred in society.
The NPCC president, S. Supongmeren Jamir, has recently emerged as a strong advocate for the people of Nagaland, earning their trust and support. The membership drive in Dimapur will continue until March 22, with subsequent campaigns planned across other districts, the party announced. This initiative underscores the Congress party’s commitment to addressing issues of governance and uniting citizens to protect constitutional values.
