Revitalizing Rural Empowerment through Sports: Meghalaya’s Vibrant Mega Inter-Village Championship
Rural Development Initiative Kicks Off in Meghalaya: BAKRIM 2025
In a unique initiative aimed at fostering rural development, enhancing community participation, and increasing awareness of key government schemes, Dadenggre (C&D) Block in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya, is all set to host BAKRIM 2025. The inter-village championship will see participating villages competing in major flagship programs such as MGNREGS, PMAY-G, Ayushman Bharat-MHIS, PM Kisan, NSAP, ICDS, NRLM, and PM Vishwakarma, among others.
The event, scheduled to take place from March 13 to 19, 2025, will recognize outstanding contributions through awards in various categories, including Best Village Award, Clean Village Award, Best VEC, Best VHC, Best SHG, Best Farmer, Best PMAY House, and the Long-Live Award for the eldest resident. To ensure maximum public benefit, special enrolment and registration camps will be organized on March 13 and 17, where citizens can enroll in various government welfare schemes and submit grievances for on-the-spot resolution with the assistance of relevant departments. An awareness rally will also be held on March 17, from the Block Office to encourage active participation.
BAKRIM 2025 will also feature a range of cultural and sporting events to celebrate community spirit and local talent, including wall painting, tug of war, volleyball, music and dance performances, exhibitions of handicrafts and agricultural produce, as well as food and game stalls. The initiative is designed to not only inspire friendly competition but also to strengthen engagement in government schemes, ultimately contributing to sustainable development and improved livelihoods in the region.
The grand closing ceremony is scheduled for March 19, at the Dadenggre playground, where winners will be announced and the achievements of participating villages will be formally honored. According to officials, the event is aimed at empowering local communities, promoting community development, and enhancing the overall quality of life for the rural populace.
Through BAKRIM 2025, the initiative hopes to create a roadmap for sustainable development, providing a platform for local communities to showcase their achievements, exchange best practices, and collaborate on projects. With its unique blend of competition, community engagement, and cultural celebration, BAKRIM 2025 is set to make a lasting impact on the region, paving the way for a brighter and more prosperous future for the people of Dadenggre (C&D) Block in West Garo Hills, Meghalaya.
