Tripura Chief Minister to Meet Amit Shah Over Justice Reforms, Assesses State’s Readiness
Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha is set to visit Guwahati on March 16 to attend a high-level meeting chaired by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, sources from the state government revealed. The meeting will focus on the implementation of three newly enacted criminal laws aimed at revolutionizing India’s justice system.
As a precursor to the meeting, Saha chaired a review session on March 10 to assess Tripura’s preparedness for the roll-out of these laws. Senior officials from the state police, including Chief Secretary JK Sinha, DGP Amitabh Ranjan, and other top brass, attended the session. During the meeting, Saha emphasized the need for a smooth transition to the new framework and prioritized training and capacity-building programs for law enforcement agencies. He directed all concerned departments to coordinate and ensure effective implementation of the new laws.
The Chief Minister had taken to social media to share details of the review meeting, stating, "Chaired a review meeting on implementation of three new major criminal acts in Tripura. All stakeholders, including home, police, law, prosecution, forensic, health, and prison departments, were present in the meeting." Saha’s Facebook post highlighted the importance of cooperation among different departments to ensure successful implementation of the new laws.
The yet-to-be-implementation of the three major Criminal Acts is expected to have a significant impact on the country’s justice system, aiming to improve the way crimes are investigated and prosecuted. The meeting between Saha and Shah will likely discuss strategies to ensure a seamless transition and address any concerns that may arise during the implementation process.
