Tripura Journalists’ Union Celebrates International Women’s Day with Prestigious Awards Ceremony
In a prestigious ceremony, the Tripura Journalists’ Union honored women journalists from across the state with the inaugural "Ananya Sangbad Yoddha" award on International Women’s Day, March 8, 2025, in Agartala. The event, held at the Agartala Press Club’s Conference Hall, recognized the invaluable contributions of 70 female journalists in the state’s media landscape.
The "Shaktirupa Award" was presented to Reshmi Debnath, a notable journalist, for her exceptional work in the field. Additionally, the ceremony saw the presentation of blazers to representatives from 20 local media houses. Notable figures such as Sudhambika R, IPS, and former Additional Traffic Superintendent of West Tripura District, Arpita Saha, Director of Shyam Sundar Co. Jewellers, and Phulan Bhattacharya, a social worker and ex-journalist, attended the event as chief and special guests.
Presided over by Pranab Sarkar, President of the Tripura Journalists’ Union, the event saw the participation of organizers, including Adviser Syed Sajjad Ali, Secretary General Alok Ghosh, and Secretary Sourajit Pal, as well as Assistant Secretary Abhishek Dey. The ceremony marked a significant milestone in the union’s efforts to promote and recognize the outstanding work of women journalists in Tripura.
