In a cracking series of operations, security forces in Manipur have arrested seven militants, apprehending members of four different proscribed outfits across different locations.
According to sources, two cadres of the Kangleipak Communist Party (PWG) were arrested from Lamphel in Imphal West district on Friday. The duo, Moirangthem Jiban Singh (27), Laishram Tiken Singh (40), and Thoudam Premkumar Singh (38), were taken into custody, with an amount of Rs 50,000 recovered from those arrested in Lamphel. In a separate operation, another member of the same outfit was arrested near the gate of Bir Tikendrajit International Airport.
Security forces also apprehended two members of the Kanglei Yaol Kanna Lup (KYKL) on Thursday, just a day prior to the PWG arrests. Keisham Naocha alias Ningsingba (38) and Ningthoujam Sanjoy (18) were arrested near the Lokchao river along the India-Myanmar border in Tengnoupal district. They were subsequently handed over to local police for necessary legal action.
Additional arrests were made in separate operations, with a 24-year-old cadre of the outlawed KCP (Taibanganba), Mayanglambam Borish Singh, taken into custody on Friday. Meanwhile, a 24-year-old member of the banned PREPAK, Ningthoujam Dhananjoy, was also arrested, with security forces recovering various items from his possession, including a mobile phone, sim card, aadhar card, wallet, RC book, and cash worth Rs 1000.
In another operation, a person identified as Thoudam Premkumar Singh (38), an active KCP (PWG) cadre, was arrested near the gate of Bir Tikendrajit International Airport in Imphal. The police seized a bag, two mobiles, an aadhaar card, and a debit card from his possession.
These arrests have sent a strong message to militants operating in the region, as security forces continue to crack down on proscribed outfits. As authorities tighten their grip on these groups, the people of Manipur can rest assured that justice is being served.
