Revitalizing Guwahati’s Landscape: Radha Govinda Barua Path and Bhupen Hazarika Path Get a Makeover
Assam Chief Minister Inaugurates Radha Govinda Barua and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Paths with RCC Bridge in Guwahati
Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, inaugurated two crucial roads and an RCC bridge in Guwahati, aimed at streamlining connectivity within the city and enhancing mobility for sports enthusiasts. The improved Radha Govinda Barua path and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika path, accompanied by the RCC bridge over the Mora Bharalu river, are expected to benefit residents, commuters, and visitors alike.
The Dr. Bhupen Hazarika road, measuring 7.39 kilometers, stretches from the Barsapara Cricket Stadium to National Highway (NH)-27 near the ISBT. The Chief Minister emphasized that the road will serve as an alternative connectivity to NH-27 from areas like Barsapara stadium, Fatasil, Kalapahar, and colony bazar, as well as provide a vital link for ‘to and fro’ movement from Guwahati city to the NH-27 bypass. This will also facilitate access to educational institutions and hospitals along the NH-27 bypass.
Furthermore, Sarma expressed his hope that the roads will minimize the heavy traffic along the main road linking the stadium and serve as the most convenient route for commuters during cricket matches at Barsapara stadium. The roads are expected to provide a smoother flow of traffic, reducing congestion and minimizing parking hassles.
The Radha Govinda Barua Road, another crucial link, will offer direct connectivity to various entry and exit gates of the Barsapara stadium and is connected to the Guwahati-Garbhanga road. The construction of the RCC Bridge over Mora Bharalu will link both Radha Govinda Road and Dr. Bhupen Hazarika Road, enabling visitors and the public to move about the stadium with ease.
The Chief Minister assured that these infrastructure projects are part of a larger plan to revamp Guwahati’s road network. He hinted that other roads in the city will also receive a facelift in the coming days. The project, worth Rs 14.74 crore, aims to enhance the quality of life for the citizens by providing efficient connectivity options.
Minister Power, Skill, Employment, and Entrepreneurship Department Prasanta Phukan, MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita, Mayor GMC Mrigen Sarania, Deputy Chairman GMDA Mukuta Deka, Councillor Ward No. 23 Manjita Doimary, Councillor Ward No. 21 Sandip Deb, and other dignitaries were present at the inauguration event.
