Unveiling Kaziranga Magic: EAM-Led Delegation Mesmerized by Jhumoir Dance and Natural Wonders
A delegation of 35 heads of missions and their spouses, led by India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, is set to visit Guwahati from February 23 for a three-day tour. The group will explore the Kaziranga National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and experience a grand Jhumoir dance performance featuring 8,000 participants. The main event, the Advantage Assam 2.0 investment and infrastructure summit, begins on February 25. Assam’s Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma revealed that the delegation might increase to over 50 members by the time of the visit. Heads of missions from various countries including Bangladesh, Malaysia, Germany, and Italy are expected, though some will join directly at the summit without attending the earlier events.
Additionally, a Bhutanese delegation led by Agriculture Minister Lyonpo Younten Phuntsho will participate, emphasizing the strengthening India-Bhutan ties and development of connectivity routes from Assam to Bhutan. Indian Union Ministers, including Nirmala Sitharaman and Jyotiraditya Scindia, will also engage in summit sessions.
The Advantage Assam 2.0 summit holds significance due to the successful outcomes of its precursor in 2018, which led to the establishment of industries and infrastructure improvements in Assam. This year’s summit received notable interest with 18,575 registrations, out of which 15,000 were approved, along with numerous requests for business meetings. The state government plans to carefully scrutinize these requests to ensure successful collaborations. The broad participation and interest highlight the region’s growing appeal as a strategic investment destination.
