Urgent: DU Students from Arunachal Pradesh Endure Shocking Racial Attack – Demand Immediate Government Action
Two students from Delhi University, hailing from Arunachal Pradesh, were reportedly victims of a racially motivated assault in New Delhi. Nabam Barka and Tadam Debom were attacked by a group of ten individuals while they were accompanying friends. Initially subjected to racial slurs, the students faced a violent assault when they confronted the hecklers. News18 reported that the injured students were taken to a hospital for medical evaluations, including CT scans.
Barka took to social media to share a video detailing their ordeal, appealing to the Arunachal Pradesh government for intervention. In the video, a student’s voice captures the gravity of the situation, exclaiming, “Look, these people are going to kill us,” while the footage reveals men wielding sticks. The visibly injured Barka, with blood on his face, pleaded for justice and highlighted the brutality of the attack, saying, “Ten people beat us up.”
The incident prompted the Arunachal Students Union of Delhi (ASUD) to get involved and report the matter to the Delhi Police’s special unit for the northeastern region. ASUD has been instrumental in assisting the victims with legal procedures, urging public restraint to prevent misinformation from escalating tensions.
