Shocking Heist: Brazen Thief Targets Sacred Artifacts in Morigaon’s Sonarigaon, Captured on CCTV

A major theft in Sonarigaon, Morigaon town, has raised alarm as sacred artifacts, including items from the Sensoku Namghar’s ‘Monikut’ and ‘holy altar,’ were stolen. This incident has sparked significant concern among the local community, as it specifically targeted religious items.

Reports indicate that burglars targeted nine households overnight, stealing valuables such as the Salagram idol from private prayer rooms, along with brass and copper utensils and other religious artifacts. Particularly disturbing was the theft of sacred scriptures, including the ‘Gunamala Puthi’ from the Namghar.

This event is part of a troubling trend in the region, which has witnessed a surge in similar thefts over the past month. Nearly fifty Monikuts have reportedly been burglarized during this period. CCTV footage from the latest incident has identified a single suspect involved in the crime. Authorities are currently analyzing the footage as part of their ongoing investigation.
