Guwahati: Dr. Mridupaban Nath is now under arrest, drawing scrutiny from the Chief Minister’s Vigilance Cell due to his alleged corrupt practices. Dr. Nath is accused of accumulating disproportionate assets, with the most serious charge being his involvement in creating fraudulent post-mortem reports for financial gain. Notably, he allegedly fabricated a post-mortem report for his deceased brother to secure an insurance payout.
The investigation intensified following a 2024 raid on Nath’s residence by the CM’s Vigilance Cell, which uncovered numerous fake post-mortem reports and incriminating evidence. Subsequently, three criminal cases were filed against him at Bhangagarh police station under case numbers 37/2017, 68/2018, and 41/2018. These cases involve allegations of forging his father-in-law’s signature, deceiving individuals with false job promises, and manipulating post-mortem findings.
Adding to the complexity, financial discrepancies emerged when investigators found approximately Rs 7 crore deposited into Nath’s bank account in 2019, a sum for which he has yet to provide a credible explanation.
In light of these findings, Dr. Nath’s situation continues to unravel, placing him at the center of a significant criminal investigation.
