Breaking: Shocking Seizure of Transport Firm’s Vehicle Carrying Liquor Worth Rs 3 Lakh in Ahmedabad – One Arrested
On Tuesday, the Detection of Crime Branch (DCB) of Ahmedabad City Police successfully intercepted a vehicle carrying a significant haul of Indian-Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL), valued at approximately Rs 3 lakh. The operation led to the arrest of one individual involved in the case.
According to the DCB, intelligence reports suggested that liquor was being illicitly transported to various cities across the dry state of Gujarat using vehicles from a private transport firm in Ahmedabad. Acting on this information, the DCB launched a thorough investigation.
The team discovered that a substantial order of IMFL had been placed from Rajasthan, to be delivered to Ahmedabad via a vehicle belonging to Guru Logistics Transport, located on Idgah Road near Prem Darwaza. Upon receiving a tip-off that the recipient of the illicit shipment was about to collect the delivery, DCB kept a vigilant watch. Consequently, they intercepted a truck laden with the illicit cargo.
Inside the vehicle, the authorities uncovered 180 bottles—each 750 ml—of various IMFL brands, with a total estimated value of Rs 2,94,836. In addition to seizing the liquor, two mobile phones, and the transport vehicle, the DCB arrested the driver, identified as Rajpalsinh Kishorsinh Mahobatsinh Rathod, a 24-year-old resident of Rajkot city. However, another suspect, Yash Munna Thakar, remains at large according to the police.
This operation highlights the ongoing efforts of the Ahmedabad City Police to clamp down on the illegal smuggling of liquor in a state where alcohol is prohibited. The success of this operation underscores the vigilance and effectiveness of the local law enforcement agencies in tackling such illicit activities.
