Expert Panel to Dive Deep into Shocking Balloon Explosion at ‘Pokhara Visit Year 2025’ Kickoff

An investigation has been launched into a balloon explosion that occurred during the inauguration of the ‘Pokhara Visit Year 2025’ in Pokhara, Nepal. The blast resulted in burn injuries to Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel and Pokhara Metropolitan City Mayor Dhanraj Acharya during the event held on Saturday.

In response to the incident, Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak has established an eight-member committee to conduct a thorough investigation. The committee is headed by the Chief District Officer of Kaski, Bharatmani Pandey. It has been mandated to deliver a comprehensive report on the incident within 15 days.

Following the unfortunate event, both Deputy Prime Minister Paudel and Mayor Acharya were admitted to the intensive care unit of the Burn Hospital in Kirtipur, where they are currently receiving treatment for their injuries. President Ramchandra Paudel has reached out to inquire about their health, expressing concern for their well-being. Additionally, Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli personally visited the injured officials in the hospital, extending his wishes for their swift recovery.
