Unveiling Tightened Vigilance: Discover the Intensified Security Measures in Shillong Cantt
In a significant move to bolster security in Shillong’s Cantonment areas, key officials convened to deliberate on vital safety measures. The Mission Director of DREAM Mission, in partnership with the Superintendent of Police (SP) of East Khasi Hills, met with Ayush Maurya, the CEO of the Cantonment Board, Shillong, to address pressing security concerns. The meeting underscored the importance of regular joint meetings and inspections to thoroughly assess and tackle existing security issues, aiming to foster a safer environment for residents.
A primary concern highlighted was the susceptibility of certain areas to unauthorized infiltration. Since Cantonment territories are outside the jurisdiction of Dorbar Shnongs, they encounter distinct security challenges. To mitigate these risks, a strategic infiltration control plan is under development to monitor and restrict unauthorized movements effectively.
To further enhance security and public safety, plans are underway to install CCTV cameras at strategic locations throughout the Cantonment areas. This initiative seeks to fortify security infrastructure, deter criminal activity, and provide law enforcement agencies with real-time monitoring capabilities. Enhanced surveillance is expected to play a pivotal role in curbing illegal activities, especially drug-related issues, which have been escalating in the region.
The Director of the DREAM Mission expressed gratitude to the CEO of the Cantonment Board for his proactive response and full support of the proposed security enhancements. This collaboration represents a critical step in ongoing efforts to ensure a more secure Shillong. The joint initiative between the DREAM Mission and local authorities aims to implement robust security measures that will benefit all residents, reinforcing the commitment to maintaining peace and safety in the area.
