NSCN (K) Engages in Bilateral Ceasefire Process with Indian Government
Dimapur, February 9 (MExN): The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN) faction led by Maj Gen (Rtd) Ang Mai has initiated a "bilateral ceasefire process" with the Government of India (GoI), according to a recent press release from the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) under NSCN-K (Ang Mai). This development comes amid efforts to address the ongoing Indo-Naga-Myanmar political issues and meets the aspirations of the Naga people for a peaceful resolution.
Kughalu Mulatonu has been elected as the General Secretary of the organization, while Nyeiton Konyak serves as Vice-Chairman since their election on May 8, 2024. The leadership is working proactively to create an environment conducive for dialogue, hoping to expedite the peace process and resolve long-standing issues.
The initiative aims to eliminate confrontations and bloodshed in the region through sustained conversations with GoI representatives. Emphasizing the importance of peace, the NSCN-K (Ang Mai) has called upon Naga communities to support their collective efforts in striving for Naga sovereignty. The group’s commitment to peaceful diplomacy underscores their intention to uphold the wishes of the Naga populace effectively.
Additionally, the organization has appointed Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Chaplee Affairs, Kangxi Lang, as the in-charge of Dimapur, Niuland, and Chümoukedima districts. The NSCN-K (Ang Mai) continues to work towards achieving a sustainable peace agreement that reflects the will of the people.
