Unlocking Potential: Transformative Post-Cocoon Technology Training Empowers Udalguri’s Silk Industry
In Udalguri, Assam, a three-day Off-Campus Training Programme on Post-Cocoon Technology for eri, muga, and mulberry was inaugurated on February 4, 2025, at the District Sericulture Office. Rajib Kumar Bhuyan, Director of the State Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute (SAMETI), officiated the event as the chief guest. This initiative, organized by SAMETI in collaboration with the Directorate of Agriculture and the District Agriculture Office, aimed at enhancing the skills necessary for improving post-cocoon processes. Many prominent figures participated, including Dipak Medhi, District Agricultural Officer of Udalguri, and representatives from CSS-ATMA and the Central Silk Board.
Concurrently, the Tangla Veterans Association celebrated its 32nd Annual Conference-cum-Get-Together at its office in Tangla, Udalguri, attracting over 500 former defense personnel from the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. The event commenced with the ceremonial flag hoisting and a tribute to martyrs. Col. Pradeep Singh Tumar, Commanding Officer of the 81st Field Regiment, attended as the chief guest, reaffirming the Indian Army’s dedication to veterans’ welfare. The ceremony honored senior veterans and their families, celebrating their sacrifices and strengthening the community bond.
These programs highlight Assam’s dedication to both agricultural advancement and honoring its veterans, showcasing community development and cohesion in Udalguri.
