Shocking Breakthrough: BSF-Tripura Police Joint Effort Captures Despicable Human Trafficker in Sepahijala, Seizes Alarming Ammunition Stash
In a joint operation, personnel from the Border Security Force (BSF) and Tripura Police apprehended a suspected human trafficker, Anjan Das, aged 47, from Radhanagar village in Tripura’s Sepahijala district. Acting on a tip-off, authorities raided Das’s residence, seizing a country-made pistol, a magazine, and three live rounds of ammunition. BSF officials suspect Das’s involvement in numerous human trafficking incidents and trans-border smuggling activities.
In related operations on the same day, the BSF confiscated 415 kg of ganja and other contraband items, valued at approximately Rs 34.74 lakh. This operation underscores the intensified efforts by the BSF to curb illegal activities along the international border.
In another incident, a man sustained minor injuries on Wednesday after being hit by a non-lethal weapon fired by BSF personnel while attempting to illegally cross the international border in Sepahijala. The BSF has also detained 14 Bangladeshi infiltrators and two Indian facilitators over the past week, emphasizing its stringent measures along the border. Reports of clashes between BSF and sugar smugglers have surfaced recently, illustrating ongoing conflicts in the region.
The recent surge in vigilance by BSF comes amidst efforts to bolster security along Tripura’s 856-km-long border with Bangladesh, segments of which remain unfenced. These measures are part of a broader strategy to enhance border security and prevent illegal crossings and smuggling activities.
