Victory in Arunachal: Notorious Drug-Peddling Couple Arrested, 13.20 Grams of Heroin Seized!
In a significant breakthrough against drug trafficking, Itanagar Police arrested a couple involved in habitual drug peddling, recovering 13.20 grams of heroin from their possession. The arrest underscores the unwavering commitment of the Itanagar police to combat the escalating drug abuse issue in the region.
On February 3, 2025, Itanagar Police acted on credible intelligence about drug peddler movements. A police team, led by Inspector Khiksi Yangfo and supervised by SDPO Shri Kengo Dirchi, promptly conducted a raid. The operation included officers such as Inspector Takhe Tasso and SI Kentar Tacha, among others.
The raid took place on February 4, 2025, targeting suspect Tadar Naham, 24, at his residence near Raj Bhawan Road. During the operation, the team recovered 10 plastic vials of what was suspected to be heroin. The apprehended individuals were identified as Tadar Naham from Langloth village, Kurung Kumey District, and his partner, Kenna Perme, 24, from Mebo village, East Siang District. The contraband seized weighed a total of 13.20 grams.
The suspects confessed to being regular drug users for three years and revealed they procured heroin from Assam, distributing it within the Itanagar Capital Region for profit. They have been charged under Section 21(a)/27 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act and are remanded to judicial custody for 14 days.
Rohit Rajbir Singh, IPS, SP Itanagar, commended the police team for their swift action and assured suitable rewards for their efforts. The Itanagar Capital Police, as part of their mission “DAWN,” continues to prioritize eradicating drug abuse and trafficking.
