Breaking: BJP’s Massive Spending Surge Shakes Up Delhi Polls – Rivals Left in the Dust!
In the lead-up to the Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP significantly outspent its rivals in advertising on Meta platforms, investing over three times more than its closest competitor. Between January 3 and February 1, the BJP, its candidates, and affiliated groups collectively channeled Rs. 4.15 crore into ads, with 91.8% of this amount coming from BJP Delhi’s official handle. In comparison, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) spent Rs. 1.38 crore, allocating 63.3% through its official handle, while the Congress trailed with Rs. 66.62 lakh in total expenditures, 88.7% of which was from its official handle.
Among individual candidates, Parvesh Sahib Singh, the BJP’s New Delhi candidate challenging AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal, led in spending with Rs. 5.13 lakh. BJP’s Kulwant Rana, a two-time MLA from Rithala, followed closely behind, investing Rs. 4.91 lakh. On the AAP side, Shiv Charan Goel, Moti Nagar MLA, had the highest expenditure at Rs. 4.17 lakh, while Garvit Singhvi, a Congress contender from Greater Kailash, recorded the highest spending for his party at Rs. 3.21 lakh.
Unofficially, advertisers supporting AAP’s causes also made substantial contributions, with “Phir Layenge Kejriwal” and “Bhasht Jumla Party” spending Rs. 12.62 lakh and Rs. 8.98 lakh, respectively. On the other hand, the “Main Hoon Dilli” campaign, which opposed AAP and supported BJP, invested Rs. 2.78 lakh.
This significant advertising expenditure highlights the BJP’s strategic focus on digital platforms to sway voter sentiment in a highly competitive electoral landscape, while AAP and Congress navigate their campaigns with notably smaller budgets.
