Marvel at the Majestic 40-Foot Saraswati Idol Unveiled by Tripura CM in Agartala on Enchanting Basant Panchami
On February 2, in honor of Basant Panchami and Saraswati Puja, Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha unveiled an impressive 40-foot idol of Goddess Saraswati in Agartala Municipal Corporation’s 40th ward. This occasion saw an enthusiastic participation from students and citizens alike, marking its significance in the educational and cultural calendar of the region. CM Saha emphasized the importance of unity and progress in Tripura, aiming for ‘Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.’
Via his official social media handle, CM Saha expressed gratitude, stating, “Om Saraswati Namah,” and acknowledged the event’s organizers for extending respect to senior citizens and fostering community spirit. The celebration turned into a significant draw, attracting thousands of visitors statewide.
Ward 40 of the Agartala Municipal Corporation, renowned for its vibrant celebrations, has been hosting the event since 2021. This year marked its fourth iteration, featuring a lively fair for children, and honoring women over 70. Social activist Padmanava Saha praised the initiative, noting the ward’s growing reputation and the joy shared by all during the festivities.
In the early hours of the day, prominent leaders, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, extended their greetings, lauding the festival as a harbinger of wisdom and prosperity. President Droupadi Murmu also reiterated these sentiments, wishing for India to evolve into a global center of knowledge.
Basant Panchami, also recognized as Vasant Panchami, Shri Panchami, and Saraswati Panchami, heralds the onset of spring. Celebrated on the fifth day of the month of Magha, it kickstarts preparations for Holi, slated for forty days later. The festival venerates Maa Saraswati, the Hindu goddess of learning, music, and arts, embedding deep cultural and spiritual relevance in the community and beyond.
