The 66th Northern Angami Sports Association (NASA) Meet 2025 concluded on January 30 at the Meriema Village Ground, marking the end of a vibrant three-day event. Former international footballer and sports officer, Roko Angami, graced the closing ceremony, lauding the Nagaland government’s dedication under Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio to advancing sports and music for the Naga youth. Emphasizing sports as a burgeoning industry, Angami inspired young athletes to pursue sports not only for fame but also for its financial opportunities, urging dedication and perseverance.
The ceremony, which promoted unity through sports within the Northern Angami community, included engaging performances by Thejasenuo Kire and other artists, with blessings from Rev. Thepfiisalhou Khoubve. The event peaked with “The Closing Bash,” featuring Mengu Suokhrie, Asenuo Metha, and Mhasizolie Metsieo, ensuring a memorable end to the meet.
NASA-A emerged as the overall champions, collecting 18 gold, 11 silver, and 5 bronze medals. Their dominance was highlighted in the Men’s Sepak Takraw, where they secured the top position. NAYSA-C achieved success in Men’s Volleyball and performed strongly in the football events, winning both the Men’s and Women’s Football championships, with NASA-B and NAYSA-D as the respective runners-up.
In individual accolades, standout performers included Keneilhousienuo Pienyü of NASA-B, named Best Player in Women’s Sepak Takraw, and Ruokuozelie Suohu of NASA-A in the men’s equivalent. Neikesonuo Belho and Vizotuonuo Üsou were recognized as the best in Women’s Volleyball and Football respectively, while Petekhrietuo Üsou and Kevineizo Tsira took top honors in Men’s Volleyball and Football.
The current NASA leadership will continue its role until 2026, promising to uphold and further the unifying spirit of sports exemplified throughout this successful meet.
