Empowering Voices: Kiren Rijiju Champions Meaningful Consultations with the People
Union Minister Kiren Rijiju emphasized a clear distinction between China and Arunachal Pradesh, pointing out that unlike China’s ‘Communist’ regime, the state government practices proper public consultation and engagement when implementing projects. In a conversation with India Today NE, Rijiju addressed the Siang Multipurpose 11,000 MW project, underscoring the importance of responsible resource utilization for the future, mindful of environmental, ecological, cultural, and traditional preservation.
Rijiju highlighted the government’s initiative to inform the public about transforming resources into improved livelihoods, with the project promising benefits for both irrigation and flood management. He reiterated the commitment to enhancing infrastructure, including roads, bridges, and facility centers, with special focus on border areas to provide better road connectivity, electricity, mobile services, and essential amenities for border villages.
Addressing the delay in constructing the Aalo Stadium under the SPA scheme, Rijiju expressed concern over the slow progress and the complacency of the construction agency responsible for three sports stadiums, including one in the capital, Chimpu. He pledged continuous efforts to ensure the project’s timely completion, acknowledging the negative impact of the delay on the local community.
Rijiju also praised the rapid development in Arunachal Pradesh, noting the state’s rise in per capita income and GDP to second place among the eight northeastern states. He attributed this progress to initiatives spearheaded by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, highlighting a promising trajectory for the state’s development.
