Relief in Mumbai: Enjoy Refreshing Weather as ‘Moderate’ Air Quality Transforms City Atmosphere
Mumbai experienced pleasant weather on Tuesday, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting clear skies and temperatures between 14°C and 31°C for the day. The city’s Air Quality Index (AQI) varied, registering an overall moderate level of 127. However, Shivaji Nagar (Mankhurd) reported a poor AQI of 249, while Borivali saw a satisfactory reading of 100.
In a tragic incident at the Andheri Oberoi Complex, a level 2 fire broke out in a residential tower, claiming one life and leading to another hospitalization. The blaze erupted around 11:20 p.m. on Monday in the electrical duct of the 11th floor, within a 14-story building. The deceased, Rahul Mishra, aged 75, succumbed to suffocation, while Raunak Mishra, 38, was hospitalized due to similar effects. The Mumbai Fire Brigade managed to extinguish the fire by 1:49 a.m.
Meanwhile, in Thane, police arrested a 27-year-old, Hitesh Dhende, for posting a social media threat targeting Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde. The post, which was reported by Shiv Sena workers, contained menacing and derogatory language. An FIR was filed against Dhende, a school dropout, and his arrest from Thane’s Srinagar area was confirmed by Thane Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Prashant Kadam.
These developments underscore a mix of environmental, safety, and political concerns currently facing Mumbai residents. Stay tuned for further updates.
