Transformative Ayushman Bharat School Health Mission Launched in Tripura: A New Era of Student Well-being | Guwahati News
The Tripura government has initiated the Ayushman Bharat School Health Mission, a pilot program dedicated to enhancing the physical and mental well-being of students. Launched on a Friday, the initiative is being rolled out in 125 Vidya Jyoti schools, adhering to NITI Aayog guidelines, and focuses on six critical areas, including health, nutrition, and education. According to Dr. Sumit Roychoudhury, Director of the National Health Mission (NHM) Tripura, around 90,000 students are set to benefit initially. The program aims to ultimately cover all government and government-aided schools across the state. Emphasizing the critical link between health and academic success, Dr. Roychoudhury also highlighted that the mission has undertaken various health initiatives, such as the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram, Menstrual Hygiene Program, National Deworming Day, National Tobacco Control Programme, and Weekly Iron and Folic Acid Supplementation Program, to ensure children’s overall well-being.
This new mission demonstrates the state’s commitment to fostering healthier educational environments and highlights the strategic importance of addressing both physical and mental health in achieving academic excellence.
