Urgent Plea: Joint Action Committee Implores CM Biren Singh for Swift Action in Finding Missing Meitei Man
A Joint Action Committee (JAC), alongside the MES Contractors Association and the All Manipur Nupi Marup Loitang Khunou Branch from Sekmai Constituency, has called for urgent intervention from Manipur Chief Minister N. Biren Singh to locate Laishram Kamalbabu, who mysteriously vanished on November 25, 2024. Kamalbabu, a 56-year-old supervisor with M/s L. Binod Construction, went missing while working at the 57 Mountain Division Army Camp in Leimakhong, raising alarm among colleagues and family members.
According to a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, Kamalbabu was last spotted entering the camp at 9:00 AM on his Honda Activa, with the registration number MN01N-7723, and attempts to contact him later showed his phone had been switched off by 2:00 PM. This prompted worried coworkers and relatives to lodge a missing person’s report with the Sekmai Police Station in Imphal West District when he did not return home.
The JAC and affiliated organizations have expressed serious concerns regarding the lack of clear communication from the Army and Manipur Police about Kamalbabu’s disappearance, particularly given that it occurred within a high-security zone. They are demanding urgent intervention from top officials, including the Chief Minister, the Governor, and the Director General of Police (DGP). In their memorandum, they are insisting on an immediate investigation and stringent actions against those potentially involved, while also seeking assurances of Kamalbabu’s safe return.
The situation has sparked heightened public and local media interest as residents await further developments in the case. The call for prompt action underscores the community’s solidarity and determination in seeking justice and clarity regarding the safety and whereabouts of Laishram Kamalbabu.
