Justice for Malcolm X: Daughters Boldly Sue CIA, FBI, and NYPD Over 1965 Assassination Shocking Revelations
Three daughters of Malcolm X have filed a $100 million lawsuit against the CIA, FBI, and the New York Police Department, claiming these entities participated in the civil rights leader’s assassination in 1965. The lawsuit, lodged in Manhattan federal court by the daughters and the Malcolm X estate, alleges that these agencies were both aware of and involved in the plot that led to Malcolm X’s death and subsequently failed to prevent the killing.
At a press conference, attorney Ben Crump, representing the family, urged federal and city officials to acknowledge and rectify the alleged historical misconduct. While the NYPD and CIA have not yet commented, the FBI has refrained from discussing ongoing litigation, and the Department of Justice has declined to comment as well.
The controversy surrounding Malcolm X’s assassination has persisted for decades, with lingering questions about who was truly responsible. Malcolm X, born Malcolm Little and later known as El-Hajj Malik El-Shabazz, was shot on February 21, 1965, during a speech in Manhattan. Although three men were convicted in connection with his death, two were exonerated in 2021 after a re-examination of the evidence suggested that authorities had withheld crucial information.
The lawsuit claims a “corrupt, unlawful, and unconstitutional” relationship between law enforcement and Malcolm X’s killers. Allegedly, the NYPD, in coordination with federal agencies, arrested Malcolm X’s security detail shortly before his assassination and intentionally withdrew their officers from the event venue. Meanwhile, undercover federal agents reportedly present did nothing to safeguard him.
The plaintiffs argue the delay in filing the lawsuit is due to withheld information, including details about undercover agents involved in the assassination plot. The lawsuit highlights the enduring trauma and uncertainty suffered by Malcolm X’s family, seeking justice for his alleged murder by government forces.
