Attorney Ahilan T Arulanantham foresees possible economic repercussions, noting the adverse impact of revoking employment authorization for long-term residents. Courts previously intervened during Trump’s administration to maintain TPS protections. Meanwhile, advocates urge President Biden to extend TPS for Nicaraguans facing political persecution under President Daniel Ortega’s regime. Elena, a 46-year-old Nicaraguan immigrant, has called for immediate action to avoid potential deportation.
As Biden’s term concludes, the immigrant community remains anxious, while legal battles are expected to continue under the new administration.
