Exciting News: Nagaland MP Secures Blissful Journey with BG Express Extension to Tuli
Officials from the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) convened with Members of Parliament (MPs) within the jurisdiction of the NFR Tinsukia division in Dibrugarh on November 14. A significant topic was the extension of the BG Express to Tuli station, advocated by Nagaland’s sole Lok Sabha MP during the meeting. He also urged a policy review concerning the Dimapur-Tizit New Railway Line project, currently on hold since September 24, 2019, and pushed for a previously shelved Route Exploration and Track (RET) survey from Tuli to Tuli Town.
Further pressing was the Dimapur railway station’s impending upgradation. The NFR Construction Organization has commenced efforts linked to the Dimapur-Shokhuvi-Zubza project, with tender finalization underway. The MP also advocated for increased stoppage times for the Jan Shatabdi Express, Nagaland Express, and BG Express at Dimapur station from 7 to 15 minutes.
The NFR General Manager, Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, chaired the meeting attended by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, Rajya Sabha MP Rameswar Teli, and other dignitaries. Shrivastava highlighted festival special trains, the ADRE Exam, and ongoing infrastructure projects. Notably, 588 stations have received QR code machines for cashless ticketing, alongside “One Station One Product” stalls now operational. Updates were provided on electrification, doubling, and new line projects in the Northeast, including Tinsukia’s redevelopment under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme.
The installation of artificial canopy bridges within the Hollongapar Wildlife Sanctuary and an AI-based Intrusion Detection System for protecting wild elephants were discussed. Finally, Shrivastava emphasized the need to address illegal encroachments and unauthorized crossings, crucial for ensuring safety and advancing development efforts across the railway network. The meeting underscored urgent infrastructure needs and policy reviews to bolster regional connectivity and operational efficiency.
