Tragic Incident in Imphal: Man Dies in Stubble Fire
In a shocking incident at Poirou-Khonjin village, located in the Imphal East district of Manipur, a man tragically lost his life after becoming engulfed in a burning stubble field. The charred body was discovered by morning walkers in a paddy field near the Andro Police Station early on Saturday.
Upon notification, forensic experts and personnel from Angdo Police Station swiftly arrived at the scene. The remains were carefully examined before being transferred to the mortuary at Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences in Imphal East for a post-mortem examination.
The police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident, urging the community to report any missing persons who may be linked to this unfortunate event.
This incident occurred merely two days after the Manipur government had advised farmers to discontinue stubble burning and avoid using public roads for threshing paddy. The administrations of Thoubal and Bishnupur districts observed that as the harvest season began, some individuals resumed these practices, thus damaging public property and endangering public safety.
Authorities have strongly appealed to the public to adhere to safety guidelines to prevent such tragic occurrences in the future.
