Breaking: Heroic Security Forces Uncover Massive Arms Cache in Manipur, Safeguard Vital Supply Routes
In a concerted effort to stabilize fragile regions, security forces in Manipur have intensified search operations and area domination across the hill and valley districts, successfully seizing a large cache of arms and ammunition. These operations underscore the state’s commitment to reducing violence and safeguarding public safety.
The extensive sweeps through multiple villages led to the recovery of various firearms, ammunition, and tactical gear. In Jiribam District, security personnel searched Mongbung, Balijuri, and Jarolpokpi, confiscating four bulletproof vests with plates, a magazine pouch, six live Self-Loading Rifle (SLR) rounds, and five single-barrel cartridges.
Further operations in T. Khonomphai village, Churachandpur District, revealed a significant cache, including a modified .303 rifle, two homemade 9mm pistols, six single-barrel shotguns, a country-made .22 rifle, and an assortment of live rounds. This includes 47 rounds of 5.56 mm INSAS ammunition and three rounds of 7.62 mm AK ammunition, highlighting ongoing security risks and the circulation of illicit firearms in these sensitive zones.
In Changoubung village, Kangpokpi District, forces discovered a 5.56 mm INSAS rifle without a magazine, two country-made .22 pistols with magazines, two single-bore rifles, a local .303 rifle, two defective hand grenades, a radio handset with a charger, and an SLR magazine. They also seized 15 live .303 rounds, one 7.62 mm round, and numerous empty shells, indicating prior firearm use in the area.
To ensure safe transportation, security efforts concentrated on critical routes, particularly National Highways NH-37 and NH-2, escorting 133 vehicles carrying essential supplies through vulnerable stretches. A total of 97 checkpoints have been established across various districts to maintain a robust security presence and deter illegal activities. Despite thorough inspections, no detentions were reported, suggesting general compliance among residents. This comprehensive approach aims to restore stability and ensure public safety in Manipur’s tumultuous regions.
