Ratan Lal Nath Triumphantly Launches Enchanting State-Level Orange Festival at Killa
Agartala, 9th November 2024: The Killa area in the Bagma assembly constituency of Tripura came alive with the vibrant celebration of the state-level Orange Festival on Saturday. The event was graced by the presence of Agriculture Minister Ratan Lal Nath, MLA Rampada Jamatia, MLA Ranjit Das, and Agriculture Department Secretary Apoorba Roy. Minister Nath initiated the festival by lighting a ceremonial lamp, marking the commencement of the festivities.
Celebrating the agricultural prowess of Tripura, orange growers from across the state showcased their vibrant produce. The festival was a stage not just for the celebration of the orange harvest but also for recognizing Tripura’s broader agricultural achievements.
In his address, Minister Nath highlighted the significant financial growth of Tripura, announcing that the state’s revenue for the financial year 2023-24 was a substantial 82,625 crore rupees. He attributed this increase predominantly to the thriving agricultural sector under the current government. Emphasizing the state’s mission, he said, “The state government is committed to ensuring door-to-door income, fostering ‘one Tripura, best Tripura, and self-reliant Tripura.'”
The minister also highlighted the international success of Tripura’s Queen Pineapple, which now boasts a GI tag and is being exported globally. “The Queen Pineapple of Tripura is a symbol of our state’s excellence and potential,” he remarked.
The festival not only showcased the success of orange cultivation but also reflected the vital role of agriculture in Tripura’s economy. The enthusiastic participation of farmers and the local community demonstrated agriculture’s central position in the state’s economic framework. Engaging stalls allowed the guests and farmers to exchange best practices and innovations, fostering a strong sense of community.
