Empowering Change: Nyishi Elite Society’s Inspiring Wildlife Conservation Effort Sees 22 Airguns Surrendered in Keyi Panyor
The Nyishi Elite Society (NES), in collaboration with district administration, conducted a significant wildlife protection and conservation awareness program in Tajgi, Paramputu circle, Keyi Panyor District. The event, themed “Say No to Wildlife Animals and Birds Meat,” aimed to discourage the hunting and consumption of wildlife, drawing considerable attendance from intellectuals, Panchayati Raj Institutions, Gaon Burahs, and local community members. It showcased the ongoing “Airgun Surrender Abhiyan,” which has already seen over 2,000 firearms surrendered to authorities, with 22 more airguns handed over during this event. This effort is part of a broader conservation campaign praised by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Environment and Forest Minister Wangki Lowang applauded the initiative’s reach and influence, stressing the need for collective action to safeguard wildlife and foster harmonious coexistence with nature. He noted the positive shift in public attitude towards conservation, emphasizing continued commitment to ecological preservation.
NES Lower Subansiri in-charge, Tabia Chobin, reinforced the society’s dedication to promoting sustainable practices, while Dr. Taba Heli, Director of Agriculture and Marketing at TD Neckom, offered insights into human ecology and the vital role of wildlife in global climate stability. Dr. Heli highlighted the urgent necessity of conserving natural habitats to mitigate climate change and protect biodiversity.
The program was a platform for reinforcing eco-friendly practices and highlighted the community’s united effort to protect local ecosystems and biodiversity, ensuring a sustainable future.
