Massive Explosives Seizure in Mizoram: Uncovering Rs 1 Crore Contraband Stash Amidst a Shocking Arrest
In a coordinated effort, Assam Rifles and Mizoram police successfully uncovered a significant cache of illegal materials on Wednesday, November 6. Acting on credible intelligence, the joint forces set up a mobile vehicle checkpoint along the Serchhip-Thenzawl road, where they intercepted a suspicious white vehicle. Upon inspection, authorities found a substantial stockpile of explosives, including 9,600 Gelatin sticks, 9,400 detonators, and 1,800 meters of Cordtex detonating cord. Two individuals were arrested and turned over to Mizoram Police, along with the confiscated materials, for further investigation. This operation underscores ongoing efforts by security forces to combat illegal trafficking, which threatens regional stability.
In a separate initiative on November 5, Assam Rifles collaborated with the Excise and Narcotics Department and the Customs Preventive Force in Mizoram’s Champhai district. This operation resulted in the seizure of heroin and smuggled areca nuts with a market value surpassing Rs 1 crore. Authorities arrested three individuals, including a Myanmar national, and confiscated 128.2 grams of heroin and 1,710 kilograms of illegal areca nuts, valued at Rs 1,01,71,000. The suspects were identified as Nangkhawkhupa (30) and Ruatfela (36) from Aizawl, Mizoram, and LT Siama (39), a Myanmar resident.
These operations highlight the vigilance and dedication of security forces in dismantling illegal networks and securing peace and stability in the region.
