Heroic Assam Rifles Raid Uncovers Staggering Rs 1.01 Crore Heroin and Areca Nut Haul in Mizoram
Authorities in Mizoram successfully confiscated heroin and illegal areca nuts valued at over 10 million rupees in a coordinated operation on November 5th. This operation, conducted by the Assam Rifles alongside the Excise & Narcotics Department and Customs Preventive Force, led to the arrest of three individuals: Nangkhawkhupa (30) and Ruatfela (36) from Aizawl, Mizoram, and LT Siama (39) from Myanmar. The teams seized 128.2 grams of heroin and 1,710 kilograms of illegal areca nuts, collectively worth over 10.1 million rupees, in the Zote and Hmunhmeltha areas of the Champhai district. The Inspector General of Assam Rifles (East) confirmed that the operations were driven by specific intelligence, underscoring the vigilance and collaboration between the law enforcement bodies. The apprehended individuals have been handed over to the Excise and Narcotics Department in Champhai for further legal action. This operation highlights ongoing efforts to curb narcotics and illegal trade in the region.
