Urgent Alert: Watsü Mungdang & Ao Senden Strongly Condemn ‘Patriotic Nagas’ Posts, Pledge Immediate Action
KOHIMA: The women’s organization, Watsü Mungdang, representing the Ao Naga community, has strongly condemned a derogatory post on the Facebook page “The Patriotic Nagas,” which labeled Ao Naga women as “promiscuous.” The organization denounced the remarks as demeaning to women of all races and tribes and questioned the sincerity of those behind the post, likening them to traitors. They cited past violence, including rape and murder against Ao Naga women by the Indian army, querying the awareness of the post’s authors about such trauma.
Watsü Mungdang accused the anonymous posters of being “double agents posing as patriots,” relying on vague claims from an unnamed British bureaucrat to justify their attack. They urged the Naga community to disregard these divisive elements, labeling “Patriotic Nagas” as fraudsters, and vowed to take legal action to uncover those responsible, seeking justice through traditional Ao law.
In related news, Ao Senden and other affiliated civil organizations condemned the Facebook attack on Dr. SC Jamir, a prominent political leader among the Ao Nagas, regarding it as not only offensive to him but the entire community. They demanded the identification and accountability of the person behind the post.
The Ao Naga community was called to remain vigilant if further issues arise. A notice was issued to the Facebook page’s administrators, demanding identification of the individual responsible for the post within seven days. Following backlash, the page became inaccessible as of November 5. The Dimapur Ao Youth Organization (DAYO) has filed a police complaint against the administrators, escalating the situation further.
