In light of the Chhath festival, Indian Railways has initiated special train services to facilitate smooth and convenient travel for passengers. Notably, approximately 25 special trains depart today from the Delhi-NCR region, heading towards the eastern parts of the country. In an exclusive statement to Akashvani, Himanshu Shekhar Upadhyay, the Chief Public Relations Officer of Northern Railway, emphasized the department’s efforts to run additional trains on demand specifically for passengers traveling in the general class.
Responding to the increased travel demand during the festive season, Indian Railways has been operating nearly 7,000 special trains, an increase from last year’s 4,500, from the beginning of last month to the end of this month. This expansion significantly boosts capacity, allowing nearly two lakh additional passengers to travel on a daily basis. Besides enhancing travel convenience, Railway authorities have implemented security measures to manage crowds effectively and ensure smooth train operations.
The provision of these festival special trains underscores Indian Railways’ commitment to catering to passenger needs, promoting joyous and hassle-free travel experiences during one of the country’s major festivals. The timely enhancement in services is designed to accommodate the surge in passenger numbers, reaffirming the Railways’ proactive stance in addressing regional travel demands.
