Breaking: Heroic Bust in Guwahati – 7 Cattle Smugglers Nabbed, 30 Cows Rescued
Guwahati Police recently arrested seven individuals involved in cattle smuggling and intercepted a vehicle containing approximately 30 cattle on National Highway 37. The vehicle was traveling from Barpeta to Meghalaya when authorities, acting on intelligence reports, conducted the operation during the early hours of Tuesday morning. According to an officer from the Gorchuk Police Station, the apprehended individuals failed to provide legitimate documentation for the cattle, prompting further investigation into the matter.
In related incidents, police activity on illegal operations continues in other regions. In Nandurbar, authorities detained seven people and seized 23 swords, valued at Rs 31,000, following an investigation into unlawful weapon manufacturing. The primary suspect, Sarfaraj Shah, is allegedly running a weapon production operation from his home, distributing the items to others.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant addressed the importance of cattle welfare during Gorvancho Padvo celebrations at Gomanchal Dairy. He urged cattle owners to utilize the government’s Rs 600 daily subsidy, aimed at supporting the maintenance of a four-cattle herd. This move seeks to reduce the incidents of stray animals causing road accidents, emphasizing animal well-being.
Such initiatives and law enforcement actions reflect a proactive approach in addressing illegal activities and ensuring public safety and animal welfare in the region.
