Triumphant Progress: PM Modi Celebrates India’s Bold and Passionate Strides in Eradicating Tuberculosis, Reaffirms Commitment to a TB-Free Future
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has attributed the decline in tuberculosis (TB) cases in India to the country’s dedicated and innovative strategies. In a recent social media post, Modi praised India’s progress in reducing TB incidence and affirmed the government’s unwavering commitment to achieving a TB-free nation. He emphasized the collective efforts being made to eradicate the disease.
According to the World Health Organization (WHO), India has achieved a 17.7 percent reduction in TB incidence from 2015 to 2023, a figure more than twice the global decline rate of 8.3 percent. Health Minister JP Nadda highlighted this achievement in a social media post, noting that it reflects India’s transformative approach to TB care and control.
To support this significant progress, the Indian government has expanded and bolstered the National TB Elimination Programme. Key initiatives include the Ni-Kshay Poshan Yojana, which provides essential nutritional support to TB patients. These measures are instrumental in sustaining the momentum toward eradicating TB from the country.
The commitment demonstrated by the Indian government underlines the importance of a comprehensive and collective approach to healthcare challenges. As these efforts continue, the nation stands as a beacon for other countries to follow in the fight against TB.
