Urgent Alert: Brace for Shillong’s Scheduled Power Outage – Stay Prepared!
The Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) has scheduled a planned power outage impacting parts of Shillong from November 4 to November 9, daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This interruption, lasting six hours each day, is necessary for the construction of a new 33KV line at Mawlyndep. The work is set to disrupt power supply across several areas, categorized under two main feeder lines.
Under the 33KV MES Feeder, the affected regions include the MES Assam Regimental Centre, Assam Rifles Office Complex and Residential areas, MES Hospital, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd. (PGCIL), North Eastern Regional Power Committee (NERPC), North Eastern Regional Load Despatch Centre (NERLDC), as well as the Anthropological Survey of India. Furthermore, disruption is expected in Happy Valley, and the neighboring areas of Mawshbuit, Madanrting, Wahrynthi, and Laitkor Wahkdait.
Similarly, areas influenced by the 33KV Lad Smit Feeder include DGAR, Umphynai, Sohryngkham, Mawryngkneng, Mawlyndep, Puriang, Smit, Nongkrem, Thangsning, Jongsha, Mawkynrew, and Kharang, along with adjacent vicinities.
MePDCL has assured the public that they are making every effort to complete the construction promptly in order to minimize inconvenience caused by the power supply interruption.
By constructing this infrastructure, MePDCL aims to enhance power distribution capacity and reliability in the region. Residents and businesses in the affected areas are advised to plan accordingly for this temporary disruption and to stay updated with any further announcements from MePDCL.
