In a tragic accident in Pune’s Pimpri-Chinchwad area, a 35-year-old man named Soham Patel was fatally struck by a speeding car while setting off firecrackers on the road. The incident, which was captured in a video that has since gone viral, occurred on October 30. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Patel succumbed to his injuries. The Ravet police have registered a case against the driver, who remains at large 48 hours after the accident. Public reactions on social media have been critical, with some users blaming the victim for being on the road.
In other news, Pune experienced 35 fire incidents during the Lakshmi Puja day, most occurring between 7 PM and 7 AM, according to the Pune Municipal Corporation’s fire department. The city’s fire brigade responded with various emergency vehicles stationed to manage these incidents. Locations affected included Shivane, Laxmi Road, and Hadapsar, among others.
Simultaneously, the Delhi Fire Services received an unprecedented number of fire-related calls over the Diwali period. On November 1 alone, around 400 calls were reported, following 320 the previous day, marking a record high within a 24-hour span, as confirmed by Delhi Fire Services Director Atul Garg.
