Meanwhile, the BJP navigates internal challenges as Assam Chief Minister and the party’s co-in-charge for the Jharkhand elections, Himanta Biswa Sarma, visited Jamtara on October 31. He aimed to coax seasoned BJP member Satyanand Jha into withdrawing his independent candidacy after not receiving an official party ticket. Jha’s candidacy risks fragmenting the BJP vote, which Sarma acknowledges as problematic given the party’s imperative of reclaiming power in Jharkhand.

As a conciliatory gesture, Sarma disclosed that the party promised Jha a prominent role within the state or central government if he decides to step back from the election. Sarma highlighted Jha’s longstanding dedication to the party, suggesting that a conversation with his supporters would precede Jha’s final decision.
