Revolutionary Milestone: BTR Proudly Becomes First Sixth Schedule Council in NE to Digitally Transform Land Records!
Kokrajhar, Nov 1: Bodoland Territorial Region’s (BTR) commitment to resolving land-related issues and implementing citizen-friendly policies was reaffirmed by Executive Member Ranjit Basumatary, responsible for Land Revenue. During a pivotal meeting at the BTR Secretariat, Basumatary emphasized the ongoing efforts under the leadership of Pramod Boro to establish a draft Land Policy aimed at supporting tea growers and small tea garden owners through allotment, settlement, and lease provisions.
BTR has achieved a significant milestone as the first and only Sixth Schedule Council in Northeast India to digitize land records across its revenue villages, enabling online access to land revenue services for its citizens. Over the past four years, more than 200,000 land pattas have been issued, showcasing substantial progress. Under Mission Bwiswmuthi 1.0, a remarkable 80,073 out of 100,141 online applications for land-related issues have been resolved, demonstrating BTR’s efficiency.
To enhance transparency and accessibility, the BTR now offers 16 land- and revenue-related services through the Mission Bwiswmuthi 1.0 portal. Basumatary urged members of the Small Tea Growers’ Association to spread awareness and encourage others to utilize these resources for resolving land issues. Additionally, the meeting addressed the extension of the draft policy to include rubber cultivation, broadening its scope.
The meeting saw contributions from BTR Executive Members Dr. Dharma Narayan Das and Dr. Nilut Swargiary, who applauded the initiatives for seamless land issue resolution and the formulation of a comprehensive land policy guided by Chief Executive Member Pramod Boro. The draft policy, meticulously explained by BTR Secretary and Director of Land Record and Survey, Dhiraj Soud, garnered positive responses and suggestions from the Small Tea Growers’ Association. The session was attended by key figures, including BTR Secretary Sujit Baglary and OSD to CEM Rintu Boro.
