Kolkata Police Triumph: 292 Arrested and Over 500kg of Dangerous Firecrackers Seized in Bold Crackdown

Kolkata Police intensified their crackdown on illegal fireworks during Diwali celebrations, arresting a total of 292 individuals for using banned firecrackers and engaging in disorderly conduct across the city. Among those apprehended was a man captured near Dhapa Road by the Detective Department (@KPDetectiveDept) for possessing approximately 510 kg of prohibited fireworks, including chocolate bombs and Kali patakha. These items, sourced from Champahati, were intended for sale. Overall, authorities seized more than 500 kg of illegal crackers on the night of October 31, 2024, while the festivities were underway. A police officer revealed that, prior to Diwali, 68 individuals had been detained and close to 4,000 kg of fireworks confiscated throughout Kolkata. The police have vowed to maintain stringent checks in the coming days to address this issue. The operation underscores Kolkata’s commitment to enforcing regulations during celebrations while ensuring public safety.
