“Shocking Revelation: Canadian Officials Expose Intel on India’s Alleged Role in Nijjar’s Murder Without Trudeau’s Approval”
In the escalating diplomatic standoff between India and Canada, two senior officials from Justin Trudeau’s government have admitted to providing intelligence to The Washington Post. This disclosure is linked to allegations of the Indian government’s involvement in the murder of Khalistani separatist, Hardeep Singh Nijjar. Canadian police have publicly connected Indian agents to violent activities within Canada.
Nathalie Drouin, Trudeau’s national security adviser, testified to a parliamentary panel, revealing that a top official in Narendra Modi’s administration allegedly plotted against Sikh separatists in Canada. She justified the intelligence leak as part of a strategy to articulate Canada’s position amid the ongoing diplomatic tension, emphasizing it did not require Trudeau’s approval. The shared information highlighted Canada’s cooperation with India and presented evidence implicating the Indian government in illegal activities threatening Canadians’ lives.
Tensions spiked when India expelled six Canadian diplomats after Canada’s move to designate India’s High Commissioner a “person of interest” in Nijjar’s murder. This escalation followed statements by Canadian officials accusing India of using criminal networks, notably the Bishnoi gang, to assassinate Nijjar and attack Sikh separatists in Canada. A secret meeting on September 12th between India’s National Security Adviser Ajit Doval and his Canadian counterpart was said to have resulted in Doval denying any links to these allegations.
Canadian lawmakers criticized Trudeau’s administration for leaking to the press instead of addressing the Canadian public. Conservative critic Raquel Dancho argued that the move was unfair to Canadians. RCMP Commissioner Mike Duheme supported the decision, citing the need to protect ongoing investigations.
This development further strains relations between the two nations, with India consistently denying the accusations. India has previously labeled Nijjar as a terrorist, associating him with violent incidents, including a bombing in Punjab and the 2009 murder of Sikh politician Rulda Singh.
