Exciting Milestone: Sri Lanka’s General Elections Embrace Postal Voting at Key Locations Today!
In Sri Lanka, postal voting for the general elections is being conducted today at police stations, District Secretariats, and Election Commission Offices. Voters will also have the opportunity to cast their postal ballots on November 1st and 4th at these locations, as well as at military camps of the Tri Forces.
The Election Commission has reported that approximately 730,000 government employees are eligible to participate in this postal voting process. For public servants unable to vote on the designated dates, alternative arrangements have been arranged for November 7th and 8th, ensuring that all eligible voters have the opportunity to participate.
Last month, Sri Lanka elected Anura Kumara Dissanayake of the National People’s Power as President. The nation is now preparing for another significant electoral event on November 14th, when voters will elect 225 Parliamentarians. This election follows the early dissolution of the Parliament, which occurred 11 months ahead of schedule.
As Sri Lanka stands on the verge of this pivotal electoral period, the postal voting system underscores the country’s commitment to ensuring that every eligible public servant can cast their vote.
