Ahead of the festive season, including Diwali and Chhath Puja, Northern Railway is set to operate 195 additional trips of special trains starting today until November 7th. This initiative aims to facilitate smoother travel for passengers as they journey to the eastern regions of the country. Departures will primarily occur from New Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations in the capital.
In an interview with Akashvani News, Ashok Kumar Verma, General Manager of Northern Railway, announced the availability of over 170,000 additional seats this year, enhancing the travel comfort for passengers. In a notable move, the railway has allocated approximately 54,000 extra seats for unreserved category travelers, addressing the needs of a broader traveling public.
To effectively manage the anticipated surge in passenger flow, special waiting areas will be established at New Delhi and Anand Vihar railway stations. These designated spaces will offer travelers a comfortable spot to relax after purchasing tickets. Mr. Verma highlighted that all special trains departing from New Delhi Railway Station towards the east will utilize platform number 16.
This strategic expansion in rail services underscores Northern Railway’s commitment to providing a hassle-free travel experience during one of the busiest times of the year. Travelers are encouraged to plan ahead and take advantage of the additional services during this festive period.
By boosting train services and enhancing facilities at key stations, Northern Railway aims to ensure a pleasant journey for all passengers heading home or visiting family to celebrate the festive season. This measure is expected to alleviate the typical travel rush associated with festivals, offering passengers a more manageable and pleasant travel experience.
