The Water Resources Department has issued a ban on bathing at Kodiveri anicut due to flooding caused by heavy overnight rain in Bhavanisagar and Sathyamangalam. The anicut, spanning River Bhavani and situated 15 km from Gobichettipalayam, experienced a surge in water flow after rain and strong winds impacted the region on Wednesday night. By Thursday morning, the water flow at the anicut reached 860 cusecs, prompting the imposition of the ban as a preventive safety measure. The district recorded a total rainfall of 174.80 mm, with specific areas such as Bhavanisagar dam receiving 85.60 mm, Sathyamangalam 51 mm, Talavadi 22 mm, and Kodiveri anicut 13.20 mm.
