India’s Exciting Leap Toward a Second White Revolution: HM Shah Ignites Hope at NDDB Diamond Jubilee Celebrations
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced India’s preparations for a second white revolution, aiming to integrate eight crore milk-producing farmers into the cooperative framework soon. Speaking at the National Dairy Development Board’s (NDDB) diamond jubilee in Anand, Gujarat, Shah highlighted that currently, only 1.5 crore farmers are connected to cooperatives and many face exploitation.
The event coincided with the birth anniversary of Amul’s founder, Tribhuvandas Patel. Shah praised NDDB’s integral role in transforming India into a leading global milk producer. As the first cooperative minister, he emphasized the unique profit distribution model of NDDB, which has no owner, benefiting many, especially women affiliated with Amul.
Gujarat’s Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and other state dignitaries attended the celebration. Shah also acknowledged NDDB’s expansion into fruit and vegetable processing, facilitating wider benefits for farmers and global consumer reach.
The Home Minister commended the GOBARdhan initiative that converts cattle waste into biogas and organic fertilizer, enhancing environmental sustainability and rural livelihoods. He depicted the scheme’s advantages for village women, advancing India’s sustainable future.
Moreover, Shah outlined the BJP government’s plan to establish two lakh cooperatives within five years, reinforcing the belief that India’s socio-economic growth is intrinsically linked to rural advancement.
