Revolutionary Breakthrough: Microsoft Empowers Innovators with Autonomous AI Agent Tools Next Month!
Microsoft is poised to empower businesses with the capability to develop their own autonomous artificial intelligence (AI) agents next month. This move is a strategic response to Salesforce’s introduction of customizable agentic AI tools in September. Announced during Microsoft’s “AI Tour” event in London, the initiative will see businesses creating autonomous agents within Copilot Studio, part of Microsoft’s AI platform. Previously available in a private preview since May, these agents will soon enter public preview, broadening access to their transformative capabilities.
AI agents serve as virtual workers, executing tasks independently and streamlining operations beyond traditional chat interfaces. Besides enabling custom agent creation in Copilot Studio, Microsoft will introduce 10 new autonomous agents tailored for Dynamics 365, enhancing functionalities across sales, service, finance, and supply chain teams.
Jared Spataro, Microsoft’s corporate VP for modern work and business applications, showcased an AI agent created at McKinsey to illustrate potential use cases. The demonstration highlighted an AI parsing an email, tracing communication history, and crafting a response, all without programming languages, driving significant operational efficiency.
As competition in the AI domain intensifies, Microsoft is doubling down on its AI strategies amidst rivalry with Salesforce. Salesforce recently launched its Agentforce platform, aiming at enterprise AI solutions. Criticizing copilot AI models, Salesforce’s UK CEO, Zahra Bahrololoumi, expressed concerns about their limited integration with customer data, challenging their effectiveness.
Meanwhile, Microsoft disclosed a five-year agreement with the U.K. government, offering public sector access to its AI tools, including Microsoft 365 productivity suite, Azure cloud, and Microsoft 365 Copilot. This partnership exemplifies Microsoft’s continued commitment to expanding AI accessibility, despite its ongoing competitive standoff with Salesforce.
