Urgent Alert: IMD Predicts Intense Downpour in Tamil Nadu and Beyond – Stay Prepared!
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert regarding the formation of a low-pressure area anticipated in the East Central Bay of Bengal and the neighboring north Andaman Sea within the next 24 hours. This system is expected to move west-northwestward, potentially intensifying into a depression by Tuesday morning. Subsequently, it may develop into a cyclonic storm by Wednesday. Forecasts suggest the storm will continue moving northwestwards, approaching the northwest Bay of Bengal, near the Odisha-West Bengal coasts, by the morning of October 24th. Consequently, the IMD has cautioned fishermen against venturing into the North Bay of Bengal, and the coastal regions of Odisha, West Bengal, and Bangladesh for the next four days due to hazardous conditions.
In addition to the coastal warnings, the IMD has predicted significant rainfall in several states. Heavy downpours are expected over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Karaikal, Kerala, and South Interior Karnataka over the next three days. Furthermore, Karnataka and Madhya Maharashtra are likely to experience heavy rainfall tomorrow. Residents and authorities in these regions are advised to prepare for potential disruptions and to stay informed about further updates from the IMD.
This developing weather situation demands vigilant monitoring as the potential cyclone could bring severe weather conditions, impacting both coastal activities and inland areas. The IMD’s advisories serve to preemptively safeguard communities and minimize risk during this period of heightened meteorological activity.
