Empowering Futures: Celebrating Progress of Model Anganwadi Centres in Cachar – Key Insights from Assam’s District Committee Meeting
The District Level Committee convened at the Cachar Deputy Commissioner’s office on Saturday, with Deputy Commissioner Mridul Yadav at the helm. The meeting’s primary focus was to assess the construction progress of Model Anganwadi Centres (MAWCs) across the district, under development through schemes such as NIDA, RIDF, and SCBC.
Key attendees included the Additional District Commissioner for Women and Child Development, Dr. Khaleda Ahmed, Cachar District Social Welfare Officer Anjali Kumari, various Child Development Project Officers (CDPOs), and representatives from the Anganwadi Level Construction Committees (ALCCs).
In his address, DC Yadav provided an in-depth review of the construction status for each legislative assembly constituency and specific Anganwadi centres. He highlighted the hurdles faced by ALCCs, proposing effective strategies to overcome these issues. Noting the centers with completed documentation and visible construction progress, he directed the immediate release of necessary funds.
A significant concern discussed was land acquisition, with DC Yadav advocating for the swift procurement of No Objection Certificates (NOCs) from authorities to avoid any project delays. He also underscored the importance of community involvement, urging CDPOs and ALCCs to actively engage local residents to ensure smooth project execution.
Stressing the need for inter-departmental coordination, DC Yadav remarked, “Effective coordination between departments is crucial for the timely completion of these critical infrastructure projects. These Model Anganwadi Centres will significantly enhance child development facilities in the district, and we must ensure their successful and prompt completion.”
The meeting reaffirmed the district administration’s unwavering commitment to advancing child welfare and development services in Cachar through these model centres, highlighting the crucial role these facilities play in enhancing early childhood care and education within the community.
